Hello
There have been mixed fortunes for our anglers recently, the rod averages had taken a bit of a dip but are now picking up. The water level is also on the up and the clarity is pretty good. During the recent mild weather we have had quite a few buzzer hatches. The favoured flies at the moment are Pearly P/T's, Diawl Bachs, suspender buzzers and then the usual lures, minkies, zonkers, boobies etc, mainly in green and black patterns. The short days mean we are closing at 4.45pm at the moment but the water is fishing consistently throughout the day. We look forward to seeing you on the bank soon.
All the best

Hello
The recent weeks have seen difficult fishing here. Some anglers have had very good catches but the majority have found it hard going. The rod averages for both waters have struggled around the 1.5 to 3 but in the last two days fish have been coming to deep lures cast well out and on F1 they have been caught in the upper water. We have noticed a few more cock fish and females with eggs than we would like and we are looking closley at our stock fish deliveries. Some will enevitably get through but you can be assured we are aware of the problem and are doing all we can to rectify it. Christmas Match. The match takes place on Saturday December 10th It is an individuals match, 9.30 to 15.30. 8 fish limit. + 1/2lb per 15 mins time bonus. Entry fee £35.00. Medals for 1st 2nd 3rd place. Raflle in aid of 'Help the Heroes'. Bacon rolls available from 8.00am (£1.00). Hot meal (inc) and results at close of match. Please book your places ASAP. 07747640707 to assist with catering. As usual you are invited to dontate raffle prizes.
All the best

Hello
What a difference a day makes! The rod average has just topped 4.3 for F2 Bank and 3.1 For F2 Boats. Let’s hope it's the start of the expected good Autumn/Winter fishing. A quick note to all those anglers wishing to fish from the boats here at Farmoor. Please ensure you always phone and pre book your boat whether required for weekend or week day.
Thanks

Hello
Well the fishery continues to provide good sport. This week has seen the rod average on F2 top at 6 for the bank and 7.5 for the boats. F1 has been quieter with a rod average topping 3. The water level is rising albeit painfully slowly but we are getting there. The bookings for the Christmas match are coming in thick and fast so if you haven't booked yet please do. As you know the nominated charity this year is Help The Hero's. We have two nice auction prizes to offer so far.
1st is a visit for up to 4 people to the Medium Support Helicopter Aircrew Training Facility based at RAF Benson. The facility is a Private Finance initiative contract run by a consortium fronted by CAE and is the only one of its type in the UK. Due to Health & Safety requirements and equipment used in the facility the minimum age for a visitor has to be set at 16 years. The visit will include a brief overview of what is done at the site followed by use of the computer based training facilities and a briefing on the Tactical Control Centre.
2nd A unique opportunity for one person to have 7 day a week full year ticket to fish F1 as catch and release only There no plans to issue a season ticket on F1 next year and therefore the only way to fish for less than £25 per day 7 days a week will be to buy this unique ticket.
If you are unable to fish in the match we will accept sealed bids to be opened on the day should you wish to bid for either of these items.
All the best

Hello
Today we held the annual Christmas match and it seems all involved had a great time. There were 41 anglers who entered into the match.
The results are:-
1st Lady. Jan Staines
1st (Over all.) Mr M Griffiths 2nd Mr Gareth Jones 3rd Mr Steve Cullen.
Heaviest Fish caught by Mr Brian Butler @ 3 lb 11oz
A nice Brown Trout was taken by Mr Gareth Jones at an estimated 7 lbs unfortunately the Browns don’t count in the match, but a lovely fish all the same.
34 Anglers weighed in 167 fish and 11 had taken their 8 fish bag limit.
The Christmas match always tries to raise funds for a chosen Charity and this year it was 'Help the Heroes' So many people brought in prizes for the raffle I thought it would still be going in the morning. The team here at Farmoor are proud to be involved with a group of people who are prepared to give so generously in these times of financial restraint.
Having already given so freely, all the competitors dug deep into their pockets and at the end of the auction and raffle they had raised in excess of £1,200. When all the funds are in they will be presented to the Charity. WELL DONE EVERYONE AND THANK YOU.
There was some frenzied bidding for the unique Farmoor 1 season ticket. Mr Brian Butler and Mr Paul Troth were locked in combat for some time but Mr Troth Triumphed with a bid of £300. Well done Paul and tight lines for the coming season.
Mr Charles Jardine fished in the match and was kind enough to donate a signed copy of one of his beautiful artworks depicting a hunting Rainbow Trout.
The Match Trophy was previously donated by the RAF at Brize Norton and this year their engineering division have produced two boat seats to be held at our lodge and hired out as requested with all the proceeds donated to this years nominated Charity. THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED AT RAF BRIZE NORTON.
Next years tariff for Farmoor Fishery was announced and we are all pleased to report there will be NO Increases in the ticket prices this year and there are one or two new ticket options.
Finally I can report the waters here are fishing well, normal winter methods are proving successful, the water level is lower than we would would like but still very fishable unlike a lot of other waters who are suffering with very low levels.
Don't forget we are open all year round apart from Christmas Day, It's never the wrong weather only the wrong clothes, so come and sample some winter fishing with us. A really nice 8lb Rainbow was taken yesterday by one of our day ticket anglers and theres a lot more where that came from
A very happy Christmas to you all

Fished Farmoor from the boat on Wednesday and had a fantastic time. Caught fish everywhere we went and it wasn't just boobies that did the damage. A pair of blobs on a DI7 caught a fair few fish.
Hoping to get back over the crimbo period from the bank. |

Hello and a very happy Christmas to one and all.
Well the fishery is providing some splendid sport for those managing to creep out from under the burden of Christmas preparations. Yesterday F2 saw a 3.9 rod average from the bank and a 9.7 rod average from the boats. F1 continues to provide slower fishing than we would like but fish are still coming to those who persevere.
I hope you all have a great Christmas; we only close on Christmas Day so plenty of time to fit in a few days fishing over the holiday period.
Thank you all for your custom and kind comments (yes and even the not so kind comments) over the year. We look forward to providing you all with continued great sport in 2012. Next years season tickets go on sale after Christmas.
