Fished F2 for a few hours late on saturday evening, hopeing to see some fish moving on the top as the light dimmed a good ripple had me in hope of catching. Unfortunately very little surfaced late on and those that did were way out from the bank. I did have a couple of takes on hoppers and lost one on a daddy. A colleague fished a little deeper with buzzers and diawl bachs he had a couple of takes but no landed fish.
The day before i fished in the afternoon bright conditions, good ripple, floating line on the top with hoppers i only had an hour i had half a dozen takes and landed two fish casting to both, savage takes lots of white water and thumping heart!, a first for me, very pleased.

Friday 1st August

Sorry haven't really got a fishing report for you for this week - the gossip and news I have heard is that the fish have gone a little deeper this week owing to the changeable weather and strong winds, though the evening rise is still good surface action.

Reckon tomorrow's floating line challenge will be interesting, perhaps long leader and DBs or buzzers again, which were doing well last weekend. Anyone got any tips to share?

Look forward to catching up with you all tomorrow - 2pm start, 8pm finish followed by the BBQ with a bar and prizegiving.

Sunday 3rd August

Fished Farmoor II yesterday, unfortunately last weeks rain and wind has forced the fish right down into the weed.

A few of us hardy anglers were out, sunny but very windy with choppy water. Quite a few of us had no luck what so ever, I had a a couple of tugs right at the end of the day, but no luck in getting them to take - think I went through my entire fly box!

Those who did catch in the more sheltered water off the top bank, were on floating lines, indicators and static line dropped down into the weed bed with a blood worms.

This weeks forecast doesn't look good, low pressure, wind and rain - looking forward to the summer - or should I be looking forward to the autumn now!

Tight Lines to anyone fishing this week, let us know how you get on.

Fished F2 on sunday morning overcast with a strong south west wind.
No luck at all, fished the bay to the left of the boats, tried all flies i had om me, top middle and bottom of water had one pull but the fish were just not interested. I've spoken to a few who know the fishery better than i they tell me that come september the place will take off, can't wait.

Farmoor 2
Wednesday 13th Aug
Water level is up to maximmum
Clarity is good
Rod ave reached 3.3 for both Saturday and Sun last and now is standing at 1.8
The last two cold eves have put the fish off the rise late eve
Succesful flies are most pheasant tail paterns including pearly, black boobies, hoppers.
Boats were out fishing the banks but now the banks are catching well it's about even.
The signs are that the fish are starting to chase and feed on the fry

Farmoor 1
Continues to fish very well, anglers are now limited to catching a maximum of 15 fish per visit with all fish to be returned.
Water level is at maximum
clarity is good
Rod average is 5+

Fished a late afternoon session on Thursday. Tried around the south-east corner. Caught one on a Cat's Booby on a Di7 having tried nymphs unsuccessfully. Not much doing until about 8 o'clock when fish seemed to come within range and were willing to take dry flies. Picked up one on a 14s Olive Buzzer, one on a dry sedge and another on a Ginger Hopper. The biggest fish weighed about 2.5 lbs and all were in cracking condition. They had been feeding on dahnia and the odd midge pupa.

Fished No 1 on Friday from about midday until 5 pm.Far bank about half way along.Hopeless when the sun was out but as soon as there was any cloud cover there was interest.I had 10 good fish and lost 4-5 others including an absolute lump.Best 2 fish around 5lb each and every one in fabulous condition. They weren't very far down not very far out..most came to the top or middle dropper, red db,hares ear, cruncher on a 10-11 ft leader so it wasn't fishing very deep in a strong cross wind.Dead drift and hang on tight because they were hitting the flies very hard.Plenty of buzzer about.
Fantastic sport. This has got to be some of the best value trouting around if [like me] you dont want to take any home.

In short...its fishing. If the forecast is cloudy get up there and fill your boots.

Fished F2 on saturday morning, conditions not great, very light wind and bright sunshine. A few fish on the surface very early on, which sank as the sun rose. Did'nt catch or have takes, tried most depths and fly, but in conditions such as these its all very slow. Lesson learnt i'll fish in future when conditions dictate and the wife allows!

I had my first boat on F2 for at least 15 years yesterday. When is Thames Water going to realise that charging people £60 plus for a boat and two anglers means that they are entitled to fish ALL of the reservoir for ALL of the day and not just those corners that the bloody yachties are gracious enough to let us have. Who owns the water anyway - TW or the Oxford Sailing Club? Not everybody in a boat is content to moor up to one of the buoys - some of us like to drift.

This is yet another reason for the formation of a Farmoor Flyfishers Association. One person complaining can be ignored by TW, but when that person represents the views of 500 others ignoring is not so easy! Anglers at Farmoor generally get the s**t end of the stick and it's about time this was redressed.

Hi Angler,
I think there is already a Farmoor FlyFishers Association. I think one of the regulars has been invited to be on the committee to represent the interests of us Anglers - and he's very much looking forward to it ;-)

HOWEVER, have a feeling that TW have yet to call the meetings. Will find out if this is still correct and who our rep is and then we can give him all our feedback.

Admin,

What you describe does not sound like a Flyfishers Association. What is needed is something along the lines of Bristol Reservoirs FFA, or Grafham Water FFA with a committee comprised solely of anglers and representing the views of as many members as can be persuaded to join. I doubt that the Oxford Sailing Club would find it quite so easy to get things all their own way then. I rather suspect you'll find that our one angler on this committee is going to be overwhelmed by the six yacht club members and therefore might as well not bother going.

Hi folks, contrary to popular belief, we haven't all died - in fact seems most people are fishing or off on hols (or some of us have to work!)

Fishing's been really good evidently on both Farmoor I and II. Brief summary below

Farmoor II
Rod Average: over 3
Pattern: bit of everything seems to be working at the moment, buzzers, diawl bachs, crunchers, fry imitations, muddlers, crunchers etc
Fish just under the surface mostly and some off the top.

Farmoor I
Rod Average: 4
Pattern: again lots of different patterns are working well.
Fish taking on the surface more than FII.
This water still seems to be best kept secret around - very under utilised by anglers.
