Hi Royston, Thanks for the update.
Fished F2 on Saturday and had a great day. Not only great weather, but fantastic fishing and still on floating line and nymphs too. Everyone around me seemed to be doing well too, all catching - not surprised at the rod average.
Have put my name on the list for the Xmas match - hope to see lots of us there for a good day out and social in the bar later. Thank Gill as always for catering for us all - she always does such a good job.
See you all soon. JW |

Thanks for going along to see Pete, I bet you saw a big improvement since the last time you went in? Pete's nursing staff have asked for more visits to Pete to try to stimulate him, and hopefully kick start his voice again. Looking forward to the 20th, when Jane unveils her fabulous Christmas present to us all!!! Smiffy. |

Saturday 20 December - Xmas Competition
On behalf of the Rangers, thanks to everyone who came along today for the match - about 40 or so altogether.
Rod average for the match was 3.9, don't have all the details on winners and weights at the moment, but will post them tomorrow if I can with some photos as soon as I have them.
Good day with a great buffet from Gill and her team, followed by prize giving and raffle (a total of £126.00 was raised for the charity Casting for Recovery - an organisation that provides free fly-fishing retreats for women with breast cancer - see www.castingforrecovery.org.uk)

Christmas Day - Merry Christmas to you all!
fished F2 yesterday, not many of us about and very quiet on the fishing front too. Took a lot of hard work and patience to get my 2 fish - both on sinking line and booby (one of Pete's specials, so thanks Pete).
Few others caught 2-3 each, but not good for bank fishing really, water like a mill pond, not a ripple, no wind! Would have been great on the boat :-)
Saw lots of fish rising and some quite close in, but they were stuffed with daphnia.
Look forward to seeing you all in the New Year - don't forget boats have been reinstalled from the 27th Dec to 4th Jan.
Best wishes and thanks to the Ranger's for all their hard work and support this year. JW |

Hope you all had a good Christmas. Nice to see some of you out yesterday. I fished F2 on a boat yesterday, finding the fish took a bit of work, but we had our bag limit and some nice fish too. Fast sink and boobies (black with multicoloured tinsel in the tail) were the only thing that seemed to get them going - but they took at both on the bottom and on a fast retrieve about 10ft down.
My fingers have thawed out enough to let me write this at last :-)
Had a message that Pete couldn't make his planned visit to see us all today, never mind Pete we're all looking forward to catching up with you again soon in the New Year. Look after yourself. JW

Fishing Report: Monday 29th December 2008
Farmoor II Fishing well at the moment, boat and bank. Sinking line (Di7), short leader and boobies work best. Rod average: 4.5 over the weekend
Farmoor I Hasn't been fished very much of late and not an ideal water for winter fishing as no lures over 35mm or boobies allowed. However, still fishing OK, though fish are deep. Sinking lines and FM lures, small fritz and fry patterns or small muddlers working well. Rod average: 2
Note: FI will close at the end of January until approx 14th March.

Fishing Report: Wednesday 7th January 2009
Farmoor II
Fishing well at the moment from both bank and boat. Most caught on Di7 sinking line and boobies/lures. Rod Average for last week (includes last weekend): 2.3
Note: Boat fishing is only at weekends until the health & safety issues have been sorted out by Matt Prior - HOWEVER it is still advisable to ring and check on Friday to ensure boats are going out (and to book one).

BOATS CANCELLED THIS WEEKEND - 10TH AND 11TH JANUARY
Sorry folks, no boats this weekend as not enough staff on duty. I've been assured that all efforts will be made to ensure boats are available on weekends for the rest of January and that a resolution to the whole boat fishing health & safety issue will be settled soon.

Thursday 15th January
Farmoor II fishing well at the moment - the rod average for the first 2 days of the week was 3.4 - still deep action on sinking lines and lures, but the milder weather earlier in the week had the fish higher in the water.
Note: Boats are now available on the weekends only again - contact the ranger's to confirm and to book in advance as plenty of bookings in for this weekend already.

Tuesday 20th January
Farmoor II fishing well for this time of year with some good fish being taken.
One guy had a double figure fish from a boat (put back) and another a 6.14lb rainbow from the bank. Evidently the fish have been about 6-10 feet down as well as cruising on the bottom.
Rod Average: 2 *NOTE: day ticket holders are failing to fill in the return forms which makes it hard, not only to get the correct rod average, but to look at stocking levels.
Please ensure you fill in the return sheets in the hut outside the lodge.

Thursday 22nd January
Just to let you know that I had an email from Matt Prior, Thames Water today. He confirmed that resolving the boat fishing health and safety issues was taking longer than he expected - therefore boats are only currently available at weekends when 2 rangers are on duty during opening hours.
Will let you know when I have any further news.

Tues 27th Jan
Had a great morning out on a boat on Saturday, what great weather! Almost no wind, so did a drift down from the top bank. A bit quiet to start, but then soon had a steady stream of takes on the rise - all on black and green / black and silver boobies. Took our bag limit and back on the bank for an early lunch! Great!
Anybody else fish at the weekend? I saw a couple of you regulars on the bank, how did you get on?

Hi folks, sorry not to have been able to post a report this last week or so, been ill - the disadvantage of having updates from one source!
Will get an update from the Ranger's during the week and let you know what's going on - gather most of Farmoor has been frozen out for the last week anyway.
Hope to fishing at the weekend, so see you then. JW |
